The Keychron Q1 Pro Wireless is a premium, gasket-mounted keyboard aimed at enthusiasts. I’ve been using it daily for six months, and it’s time to give a straight assessment of what holds up and where it falls short. It’s a good board, but is it that good?
What You’re Paying For
The build quality is excellent. The aluminum case feels solid and has held up without a scratch. The gasket mount provides a comfortable, slightly bouncy typing experience that reduces fatigue during long work sessions. The programmability via QMK/VIA is a huge plus, allowing for deep customization of keymaps and macros. The wireless connectivity is reliable, with no noticeable lag for everyday tasks.
The Compromises
While the build is great, the included keycaps and stabilizers are just…fine. At this price point, I expected better. The keycaps are decent PBT, but nothing special visually or texturally. The stabilizers required significant tuning to eliminate rattle, which is disappointing on a premium board. You are definitely paying a premium price for the name and the aluminum case, not necessarily for top-tier components across the board.
Warranty and Value
Keychron offers a standard one-year warranty, which is adequate but not exceptional. Given the premium price, a longer warranty would be reassuring. The value proposition is debatable. You’re paying a premium for the aesthetics and the wireless functionality. If you’re on a budget, you can get a comparable typing experience from a wired, less expensive board with some modifications.
If you value wireless and a solid aluminum case, it’s a contender. If you’re chasing pure value, look elsewhere.
