I’ve been using the LG 27UQ850V-W 4K USB-C Monitor as my primary display for about six months now. The picture quality is excellent, as you’d expect from a 4K monitor, and the USB-C connectivity is a real convenience. But after half a year, some things stand out – both good and bad.
What You’re Paying For
The color accuracy is genuinely impressive; I do some photo editing, and it’s held up well. The USB-C port with power delivery is a lifesaver for decluttering my desk. The stand is also surprisingly robust and offers a wide range of adjustments – height, tilt, swivel, and pivot. After a full day, I appreciate not having neck strain from a poorly designed stand.
The Compromise: HDR Performance
While the monitor boasts HDR support, don’t expect a mind-blowing experience. It’s passable, but the brightness isn’t high enough to deliver true HDR impact. It’s a feature that’s there, but not really a selling point. Honestly, for a monitor in this premium price bracket, I expected better HDR performance.
Warranty & Value
LG offers a standard one-year warranty, which is pretty typical. Considering the premium price, I’d hoped for a longer coverage period. You’re definitely paying a premium for the brand name and the USB-C functionality. There are cheaper 4K monitors out there, but fewer with this level of ergonomic adjustability and USB-C convenience.
If you need excellent color accuracy and USB-C connectivity, and ergonomics are important, it’s a solid choice, but be aware of the price.
