The Branch Ergonomic Chair is the cheapest office chair with real adjustable lumbar support. At $329 it’s a third the price of a Herman Miller Aeron and covers the basics — seat height, seat depth, lumbar curve, armrest height, tilt tension — that the Aeron charges premium for.
What you get for $329
Mesh back, foam seat, four-way adjustable arms, and a lumbar support pad you can actually move up and down (most chairs at this price have fixed lumbar, which fits no one). The tilt tension dial is firm enough to prevent sudden drops under a 220 lb user. Assembly takes 20 minutes.
What you give up
No PostureFit SL, no Pellicle mesh, no forward tilt, and the 7-year warranty is shorter than the Aeron’s 12. For 2-4 hour daily sitting, the Branch is more than enough. For 8+ hour days, the Aeron’s superior weight distribution will matter.
Bottom line: Cheapest chair with real lumbar support. Buy if you sit fewer than 6 hours a day.
