The Herman Miller Ollin is the monitor arm you buy when the Ergotron LX is “good enough but not quite.” It floats with the lightest touch we’ve tested in any arm, the finish is Herman Miller standard (read: immaculate), and the warranty matches the rest of the HM catalog at 12 years.
The touch is the whole story
Every monitor arm says it’s fingertip-adjustable. The Ollin actually is. Our 6’2″ tester can move a 27″ panel from low-typing to stand-up-meeting height with a single finger, and it stays where you put it without sag or creep. The gas strut is damped so there’s no bounce at the endpoints. It’s noticeably smoother than the Ergotron LX, which is already the category benchmark.
The tradeoff is price
At $279, the Ollin is $90 more than the Ergotron LX. If you’re outfitting a home office with 1-2 arms, the upgrade is worth it. For a multi-seat office, buy the LX and save the delta for chairs.
Bottom line: Lightest touch adjustment we’ve tested. Buy if the Ergotron LX’s tension curve bothers you.
